Odyssey battery discount promotions?

The Sears DieHard Platinum is basically the same battery. They are on sale quite often, @shawn seems to be their cheerleader

I get email alerts when Sears puts them on sale. Somebody posted a couple of years ago saying that they wished they knew when they went on sale. I was happy to oblige.

I don't have anything current. There is a used 34/78 in the classifieds on here, though.

I'm looking for a new pair for the buggy.

If anyone gets any notifications, please share. I receive some from Sears but nothing about batteries

Been debating a diehard platinum vs optima. thoughts? regular price on the two seems to be close to each other.

I've already gone through the "I'll never buy another Optima" deal after failing a few, this will be my first foray into the Odyssey AGM.

The rest of my fleet runs Interstate MTP batteries, and I couldn't be happier; I just want the AGM construction for the Jeep.

I run the orielys agm in both cars and love them.... Plus there is always an oreilys near by.

I'm open to any AGM, really. I've just heard great things about the Die Hard/Odyssey ones. I'd be open to hearing the pros and cons on the Oriley's ones @snappy

Pros... I ran a power inverter, radio and left the headlights on last sunday for 5 hours and it cranked right up.

There are more orielys than sears near where we wheel most times.

Cons... As with any of the ones you are looking at...$$$$$ they are pricey

The reason I was specifically looking to get an Odyssey was the availability of better boxes. Can you comment on throw the oriely would fit in, say a Barnes box?

I don't want to hijack the thread but I also have a 34/78 DieHard Platinum that I need to sell. I just haven't posted it yet. I bought it this summer when Shawn posted one of the sales, but it's too big for my buggy. I still have the receipt from where I bought it. I also have a RuffStuff battery box for it. I can make you a good deal on both. PM me if you're interested.

Sears will probably be out of business before you need to use your Die-hard warranty.

That might sound like an endorsement, but it's not.

Don't worry, Kmart will handle it :lol:

FYI. Just ordered the oreillys AGM. Must have it shipped to get the $30 discount, but shipping is free. Total after tax was $176, I have to return a battery to a local store for $15 core charge, and they have a rebate good for a $25 store gift card. Should bring me down to around $136 if my math is right.

Link to rebate, only good for a few more days.

Based on the specs, the O'Reilly's batteries aren't as good as the Sears or Odyssey brand ones. Specs are worse (reserve capacity, Ah rating, smaller case, weighs 20% less (less lead), etc).

Probably not a bad battery, but not apples/apples where the group 34s are concerned.

I believe the savings in purchase price was enough to make up for the difference in performance. I'm not looking for a super-performance battery anyway; I just need a solid warranty and a sealed battery that is safe to mount in the passenger compartment.

Yeah, not a bad deal for saving $40. I was just curious to know if the O'Reilly's batteries were "the same". It appears that they are not.

When I checked O'Reilly's on line site, the Odyssey they list is a less amp & warranty. Thus the price difference! Same on Sears site, the biggie is 34/78 group & 4 year free replacement. The Plain 34, is less amp & 3 year.
On reviews, the 1 common complaint, some seemed to have, is the batteries lose their power below 30 degrees! Warm up the battery, or heat it by charging, & it check outs fine, thus causing warranty problems.
Any one got any experience with Cold cranking, of any AGMs?
