what is a decent pair of offroad lights, i want bright and would like to be pretty cheap, i dont care if they are used, i will trade a bumper i have for some

I got some nice ones the other day at harborfreight, i know harbor freight usuallu sucks but these aren't half bad.

I got 4 for my dunebuggy and they are very bright, they are all chrome, halgogen and were $60ish for 4 lights.

Check them out

If you are gonna run bright off-road lights in the woods, I hope you are in front of me, or at least stay a good distance behind and, have them pointed down.
Very annoying having bright lights behind you.

You can get the Baja lights from walmart with wiring, switches and fuses all in one box for like $15. They work well enough and it's walmart so you basically have lifetime replacement.

Those baja lights are a waste of money. If your gonna get some lights, at least hold out to get some decent ones. Like hella, got a pair of those and they are more than enough. Rugged and long lasting, and can turn night into day.

Why are they a waste of money?

I've got 4 on my roof and they light up PLENTY, I've gotten lots of comments about them and they are tons better than just stock lights. More than enough light for the trail.

Sure they're not hellas but all 4 cost me $40 and the time to run the wiring. Makes driving on forest roads and gravel roads at night a ton better and safer.

Guess the illumination that they throw out is imaginary and I should save up and get some "real" lights...

So Fog Lights and Driving lights, whats the real difference here?

Is it a good idea to have a pair of both on your rig if your looking for the best in road driving lights?

Fog lights are typically mounted lower on your vehicle and usually have a yellow or orange color to them because moisture particles (fog) reflect white light. As an illustration, turn on your brights the next time you're in heavy fog.

The idea with yellow light is that more of it lights up the road and terrain than the moisture particles. Both is definitely better than none, but I've never really found that I *needed* fog lights.

Well, i've gone through a couple pairs of those baja lights you get at walmart or autozone. They always rust or bulbs blow out or break. I've had one set of hella's and thats it. They've been through everything that the bajas been and lasted. Heck i still got them. So, thats just based on what i know. Maybe you've had better luck with them, but to me they're just cheap.

Ive run the Baja lights from wally world for a few years now, never had them rust or blow bulbs or anything. I have one now that was smashed into a tree and the bulb still works, just the housing and lense is toast.

Actually the color ofthe light is not the difference. The real difference between the tow is that a fog light has a shield around the bulb so that only light off the reflector gets out. Fog lights look cool, but unless you're in a fog prone area, don't do a whole lot. They spread the light in a wider pattern bit not much for distance. Also only to be used with low beams. Driving lights shoot light further down the road to look for animals pedestrians ect. Only to be used with high beams.

My el cheapo walmart lights have been on my AJ for 5 years. The lense is completely gone on one and they still work. I think I am going to get some more for my light bar

If you like trail riding at night...fog light's work much better than driving lights...
anything more than 4 forward facing lights is unnecessary and in some states illegal... At least for what we do.

Spend the extra $40 on some hellas. The quality/wiring harness/relay make up for the extra expense.

And yes, I used the baja's years ago when I was clueless too.:flipoff2:

Is boone what you'd call a fog prone area (or the 321 to get to boone from Hickory)?
Never been to Boone... I hear there's nothing there except ASU.
