I have 1 open spot on my boat if anyone wants to go. We head out of Atlantic Beach and will probably follow some of the Big Rock guys out, probably north towards 90’ or somewhere around there.

We have 2 boats going out and this is mostly a learning trip for the other captain as he has a new boat and wants to get it out.

We usually pick up a few wahoo and mahi and even some tuna. If nothings hitting, we’ll do some bottom fishing around some of the nearby reefs. At the very least, we’ll troll nearshore for some kings, Spanish, and blues.

HMU if anyone wants to go. Meet at Crows Nest ready to pull out at 530am Saturday. 😎

Ran out to 90’ drop and trolled from there to Big Rock and turned south towards Swansboro Hole chasing grass lines and picked up dolphin. Grass lines were sparse and really broken up from the quick storm that passed through on Friday night.

Was a little rough heading out but was fairly calm by 10am and heading in.

My phone died so no pics

The guys in the other boat got sick a little so it was a shorter day of fishing.


Weather was great and it was nice to get out there again this season.

Not bad considering most everyone fishing the tournament for dolphin didn’t get anything. Not a lot of dolphin caught this week.

Believe it or not, that dolphin would have been 6th place at the tournament out of probably over 200 boats fishing the dolphin category. Only 9 dolphin were brought in on Saturday in the tournament.

I saw no less than 20 MJ with a little dolphin pics this week lol

He has a $4mil boat and a captain with a $2mil salary to catch a 40lb dolphin over the span of a week. I’d say I have him beat with my setup when considering overall costs. I’m slightly more budget than MJ. Slightly. :lol:

We also know that his home port is Wilmington so you have home court advantage. Tighten up 😅

Forgot to mention that a few lady folks I know won first place lady's dolphin this week. So basically, you catch fish like a girl.

The plan was to go Saturday, but I had an unexpected showing for the boat im selling so had to prep for that. Sunday was a no go it was blowing 15-20 at the house..


We did catch an alligator off the dock. That was fun till he broke off.

No bottom fishing this trip. Was set up for it but after trolling some of the guys weren’t feeling well and bottom fishing in a deep vee boat that rocks wouldn’t have been the best combination for someone that was already not feeling great. I didn’t see any boats stacked up on any reefs on the way in, so we didn’t stop.
