28 years ago I finished my newly installed recycled heart pine floors with Watco Wood Floor Finish. Label says that it contains an oil and resin process for wood. It's no longer available. I picked up some Watco Danish Oil Finish that contains oil and varnish. Instruction say not recommended for floors. I will test on a small area. Can anybody help me?

Just a maintenance coat? That's a lot of years of how many different cleaners? Unless you only used water and maybe some vinegar the floors should really be striped and prepped at the very least to ensure bonding.

Most of the floor is in good condition. There is an area where our dog would chase a ball and wore down the softer part of the wood. I felt that area would have to be sanded to get it level again. Then I guess the whole floor should be sanded to make everything equal before refinishing. It has been cleaned with mostly water with a little bit of floor cleaner.
