Oil for my new JK Unlimited Sport

I know this is a totally newbie question, but well I am. I've never seen the underside of any auto, always had someone else do it. But now that I have a new JK, I'd like to learn how to do things myself. I have to save money for new stuff!
A couple of weeks ago I bought a 2011 JKU Sport. I'm wondering how long before I need to change the oil for the first time. I've been at OBX this week breaking it in on the the 4x4 beaches.
And I am going to do it myself..I just have to buy the tools first

The drain plug is a 13mm and you will need 6 qts of whatever 5W-20 Oil you want. I would recommend going with a factory filter or a higher end filter. JK's have been known to have drain back problems with some filters.

I change mine every 5k with synthetic.

i have a 09 jk that i run 0-20 synthetic mobil 1 in so i can shoot for the best mpg. i have 60k on my jk now and change it every 10k just be sure to get the better filter and to add oil between the oil changes.

I'm old school. I don't trust ANY oil for more than 3k in my tj. Filters are good but to have dirt in the motor for 10k is not how I got 200k miles on mine with little to no burning. I run non synthetic and change often.
