it only happens when i take a tight turn.. my oil pressure gage goes down to 0 and the chaeck gage light comes on then when i go back stright it goes back to normal... why... oil bad? last oil change was 7,000 miles ago..?any help?

you are kidding right ?

assuming you are driving the vehicle in your profile, and you state 7k since last change, I'm guessing you are using synthetic oil.

Guess what ? you still have to check the oil !!

good bet at this point it doesn't touch the stick.

checked it 3 times. It hasnt got up to add yet

no i'm not using synthetic oil. and yes it does have oil.... and this whole mocking other people ... i come here to get help from people that might know more then me but i guess your not one...

Ok, how about some info ?

you didn't STATE that you checked the oil, you did not state what vehicle this is, nor anything else that might be helpful.

IS this the TJ in your profile ? with out stating what you are working on, how does anyone know?

Could be a moped for all we know. DO NOT ASSUME everyone knows what you drive, or are working on.

Now, you are checking the oil engine off on level ground correct? does it show on the stick? at the proper level?

7K is quit e a ways to go on an oil change, an engine with mileage will start to burn oil soon after 3k.

after 5k, it'll almost double in consumption.

sure, the manufacturer states run it to 7500 mile on an oil change, but thats in a perfect world. reality work much differently.

I seem to remember that 4.0's had/have an issue with the oil pressure sending unit. may want to check that out.

97 tj, 4cyl, 4 in lift, 33's,.. its on flat ground, oil is right where it should be on a dip stick. the motor have no problems, its just when i take this tight turn. the motor does not make nose or anything..rpms are normal. it goes from 40 to 0 gage light cvomes on the its back up to 40 just as soon as the light come on it goes off.

I am thinking differently. If the oil level is where it should be, and if it has the right dipstick. I am thinking a faulty sending unit or maybe a wire to Gage is loose or maybe broken. The shift in weight from the turn renders it inoperable, thus why it displays a zero pressure.

Have some one watch the Gage, and trace the wires, moving them and so on all the way up to the Gage.

And further, be nice to your engine. change your oil more often.

I know there was a problem with the guage cluster. On my 98 TJ sometimes the Speed + Tach would go out. Sometimes all guages went out. If I whacked the top of the dash, all was normal again. It hasn't done it in a long time though.. Doesn't sound like the same issue, but I thought I'd put it in the pot.

Your first post (without knowing any more info) really sounded like an engine low on oil..... As you hug a curve oil shifts to the opposite side of the pan, in which the oil pump would not have any oil, the the RED light on the dash comes on (or oil pressure guage goes to 0).

Blkvoodoo is pretty sharp. I have respected all advice he has posted on this board, he has also answered some newbie questions for me in the past that saved me some time and aggravation.

My oil pressure drops to 0 when I take a left turn. That is how I know I am low on oil. Of course I have 225k on the odometer. Mine also will make the knocking noise when its low and I make the left turn. Doesn't do it on right turns. I go through a lot of oil because of the blow by. One day i wil rebuild mine. Sounds like a bad sending unit.

Does it matter which way you turn that it does it?
