see if ican get some help on here i got a jeep about a month ago and i have been keeping an eye on the oil psi when the engine is first started it has about 40-50 after it has warmed up and i am at speed it is about 20 but when i am stoped (engine is at operating temp) it goes down to about 0-5 psi i have consitered running a thicker oil like 15-40 as of now it has 10-30 thanks

Which engine? how many miles on engine. If Higher mileage, the fluctuating oil pressure is pretty normal. does it drop all the way down to Zero?

I'd start with dropping about a quart out and throw in some Lucas Oil Treatment. could be just sender issue. If it's the 4.0 engine, run a heavy weight oil. I like the Diesel weight oil. I can never keep the numbers straight on the weight, but I'm sure someone will chime in on that.

I just got an 89 XJ myself. Start up cold, it was lil more than 40lbs, aftr it warmed up, it was down near zero. Driving down the highway, it was back up around 40. I put a quart of Lucus in and it stays around 25 warm and idle. So as recomended, I would drop some of that in. Mine is a 4.0 with 210K miles on it.

15-40 rotella. will fix it. Also like said check the sending unit could be just a malfunction

thanks its the 4.0 321,000 miles on the clock but not sure if thats the same motor where do u get the lucus at advance

+1 on the Rotella 15-40.
My 4.0 seems to like it plus slowed down the leaky rear main seal. Never tried any of the Lucas stuff but did notice it at WallyWorld.
