So I’m trying to put together a oil system with a remote filter, cooler an such. My question is I’ve seen oil pressure relief valves and oil pressure regulators...would I need the relief valve if I used a regulator?... might be a dumb question but seems kinda like there one in the same. Thanks

Is this for your engine? If so, there is a built in relief in the engine oil pump.
If it's a hydrualic system, yes. You will need a relief.

Yes it’s for my Tdi swap. It wouldn’t fit with the oil pump an filter stuff on the motor so I was looking at a remote filter an all the stuff to go with it. I didn’t know if a regulator would work the same as a relief valve
