By the end of the year the wife and I will be moving back to North Carolina (Aberdeen area) for me to finish out my time in the Army. I will be building some enclures for our live stock and since I have been in Louisiana a lot of folks use oil/gas well drilling pipe. Most of it is between 2-3” .50 wall and it is easy to work with and super cheap around here. Is there any sort of supply around the NC/SC area for something like this? I’m not wanting to tow it from here if I don’t have to but I will.

Not right away or at all if I have my say. I wasn’t going to build fence out of it I was going to use it structurally for building a shed with stalls for our goats, donkey, and hay storage. Also building our chicken house/ roost. I have sunk them before for fence post but I never understood the necessity to have pipe tops unless, like you said, we were going to have cattle. I can get 30ft joint for $20 all day long

not round these parts...all I have ever seen was brought by tractor trailer on a back haul or bought and shipped. Mostly for a high end horse project.

negative.....I'm always wanting cheap accessible material, may not last as long in this area due to climate differences and ground moisture. No supply here that I've found.

I figured I’d set the uprights in concrete and if it gets any more moisture laden than down here in the Louisiana bayou I may just give up on building anything lol

Make the move easy and get new critters after you get settled. After you prep the land more importqntly. I have chased my pig through the neighborhood before and it sucks.

I'd hate to move will all the crap I have living on my land. Moving is hard enough.

Oh I wish it were so simple but we would be out a lot of money if we were to start over. Our goat stock alone is about $5k and we have really good breeding bloodlines. The chickens, not so much, but once again we have really good bloodlines to breed off of and it’s hard to replace them.

At that price, haul it back. Or make a special trip.
Do you think there is that much of a demand? I could see hauling enough for mine plus a bit but if it’s aomething that could be used it could be done. It’s a haul. About 16 hours straight driving plus fuel.

I have no idea. If it is a cheap as you say it is. It sounds like it would be worth it to haul some back. At least for your self.

It at 3" x .50 wall seems like it would get heavy fast.

I’m not sure as I don’t have my book in front of me but I know 2 3/8” Drill pipe is 4.6# per Ft. The stuff I’m looking at is 2 7/8” so probably close to 5# per Ft.
