OK I know I should know this

Cable wire in
Cable box
DVD player
TV

Plug in where, and in what order?

I would hook up the dvd player on its own into the tv. I thought all tv's these days have the extra inputs.

Plug them into the electric outlet in the wall, otherwise, they won't work.

LOL! Man, I am right there with you on this crap. Moved about 2.5 months ago, and had to call the cable company to get them to walk me through getting it hooked up. I still can't figure out how to get my Bose sound system working when the TV is playing. Only have sound from the TV unit itself. Good luck. I've been thinking about posting a thread too.

If you're connecting it all with coax, then coax from the wall, to the cable box, to the DVD, to the TV.

If the TV is HD, the cable box should be connected directly to one of the TV inputs with HDMI or component connectors. The DVD can be connected directly to the TV, again with component, composite, S-video, or HDMI. Depends on what sorts of connectors you have where.

When i had Direct, guy had my personal DVD player hooked where it recorded on 1 input, & played on another input, but it worked! Switched to Dish, & the tech couldn't get it right. I didn't want to pay for the DVR/Tivo stuff. A few tried & failed. Talked to a boating friend that runs a Satellite installation Co. He swears, the NEW boxes will not allow me to hook up My DVD player! NO WAY! Had a computer nerd friend over, we got to talking, & it was so simple it made me look stupid. I had tried myself 3-4 different ways, & couldn't get it! Satellite comes into its box, goes to DVD player, then from DVD to TV. I don't even have to change the input channel to record, or play. Only thing is, I have to leave the Player on, to watch TV. So it cost a few more pennies, in electricity. If I ever see my Professional installer again, I'm telling him, I'm recording anything I want, legal or not, but NOT tell him how!:p

I am dealing with the same issue, after moving... I can get the audio from the dvd player through the reciever, but no picture. I added a hdmi cable from the dvd to the flatscreen... no luck. I may need to go into the tv program and select it that way, just havent had the desire to fool with it.

yea im having a little issue myself i have an hdmi from tv to hd cable box then another hdmi from tv to blueray and somewhere i have the main channel hooked up i have surround output playing tv but nothing when playing a dvd... tried twice and gave up lol
