Besides myself, are there any other retired folks on this forum who might be interested in making some "during-the-week" trips during the coming year? I am specifically looking at: Harlan, Royal Blue, Coal Creek (Windrock), Golden Mountain and possibly one or two others. My thoughts are to leave home on Monday and head home on Friday, before the weekend crowd rolls in. My wife and I did this twice at Uwharrie this past fall and we had a very enjoyable and relaxing time. If so, I would like to hear from you. :)

I'm not retired but I work 4 on & 4 off so I may be interested in a mid week uncrowded trail from time to time.

i might be able to make a couple of these rides. maybe not the whole week. but a few days

I have a couple weeks this year to take, I may be able to join you.

I have 8 weeks to burn this year...

Sent while I should have been doing something constructive...

Appreciate the replies!!! Would any of you be accompanied by a wife, girlfriend, etc.? I ask this because my wife will be with me, and it's nice for the ladies if they also have some company other than "the guys". I won't be doing much too planning before spring, but will definitely get back on this at some point.

I don't think I will bring a woman with me.

I took my wife once & scared her too bad so she won't go again. My 8yr old son goes all the time though. I can normally find a female friend to go too most times. My wifes friends love it.

Great! Jeff, you can always bring some bacon. We will definitely look more at this toward April or May when camping weather gets nice again. :)

I can definitely bring bacon, I always have bacon. Sadly it's all mine! mine! mine!!! Mauhahahahahahaa!

:)

my g friend is usually with me. she joined the white knuckle club at the dixie run. lol

I felt I owed an explanation after starting this thread... as most of you know by now my new rig is for sale and I am working my way into retirement from 4-Wheeling. A few people, who know me well, can tell you this decision has been slowly evolving for some time now. Other than URE, there are just no places left for us to trail ride... especially like the areas that we have ridden in the past. The small 4x4 parks are great, and I am happy they are there, but they are just not the right "cup-o-tea" for my wife and myself to enjoy a day of trail riding. We had originally planned to give it one last try over the coming season, but as there were only two what appeared to be definite responses to this thread, we decided it just wasn't quite worth the wait. We will still be camping as always. Right now, we are shopping for a fishing boat. In fact, I am going to look at one on Friday morning. We have several great fishing lakes all within an hour from our home in virtually any direction we choose to go. A few people have asked me if I am going to get a side-by-side... the answer is NO... I am not. Thanks to all of you who responded... sorry I dropped the ball on you. We will still be around... this NOT goodbye. :)

Well, that's to bad. I guess as I am sipping that IPA & eating the last piece of bacon I will think to my self. Here's is to you Granny...

Hate to hear about selling the jeep Don but I do understand what youre saying, I do hope you will still be around, which I am sure you and Darlene will. Good luck on the Boat Don!

Thanks Jason... we will still be around some. ;)

Regarding other matters, I hope my ole buddy Caver Dave won't be so mad at me for selling that he refuses tofix me up with a TBI chip for my little red CJ-5. I plan to fuel inject it in the spring... and for the record, it will NOT be for sale.
