I'm in the process of swapping my granny t-98 out for a rebuilt gm NV4500. I currently have an older (guessing 80's) small block chevy that i'm wanting to adapt to it. Manual clutch. Not Hydraulic. Does anybody know what adapter/bellhousing i will need to pair the newer NV with the old sbc? I don't think a standard sbc bellhousing will mate up to it. I took some quick measurements before i dropped it off at a shade tree mechanic's and he hasn't touched it in 5 months, so it's time to do it myself....

What year is the NV4500? There were two different ones and thus, two different bell housings. They are all the same bell housing pattern though. The early (Pre-96) GM NV4500 used an external slave cylinder. The 4 bolts that hold the transmission to the bell housing are also in a different pattern. Post a picture of the front of your transmission and I'll get you straightened out. You could retain a manual clutch, but it wouldn't be very difficult at all to convert it to hydraulic.

High Impact is a good place and they have a lot of information!

sorry about that. it's an earlier GM model. I just bit the bullet and bought an advance adapters kit from summit. The bellhousing i had was for a T98 and didn't match up
