Wake Forest, N.C. — A Silver Alert was issued Thursday for a missing Wake Forest man.
Benjamin Blake Lumpkin, 25, suffers from bi-polar disorder and severe depression, officials said. He is off his medications and is known to abuse cocaine and alcohol. He is also in possession of a stolen firearm.
Lumpkin is described as white, 6-foot-8 and about 350 pounds. He has medium-length black hair and brown eyes.
He was driving a white 1997 Toyota Four-runner with N.C. tags YXF1268.
Lumpkin was last seen at his residence on Rocky Ridge Drive.
Anyone with information about Lumpkin should call the Wake County Sheriff's Office at 919-856-5494

wow

I met this dude a year ago or so, nice guy, definitely a Toyota guy, sad to know he's having issues.

Hope all turns out well for him.

Just thinking out loud here --- I might have seen him outside the food court at Triangle Town Center mall tonight - @ 6:45. If it was him - his hair would have to be in a down over his ears - unkempt. Couldn't tell how tall or heavy the guy was that I saw - but he was with some other dude or dude - being loud and obnoxious.

I kinda doubt it, I have never seen him w/ long hair and he is like a walking refrigerator, you cant miss him. Ben is not really a loud guy, that I have seen.

yeah, I'm 6'5", and I felt small around him, thats not a frequent thing to happen.

And to think we were looking at an ex cab truck he was selling, I'm tight in one, how does he drive it ?

the owner of www.therangerstation.com (jim oaks) is severly bi polar. it comes in cycles everycouple years for him.

one year his cycle hit as he was coming home in his patrol car (he is a state trooper in ohio) and he got violent and suicedal. i cant remember the story, but i think he crashed into his house, or at his house and threatened his wife (they had a great relationship) the depression got the better of him.

Moral is, it happens the best of people. just have to understand that its not them that is acting this way, its the disorder.

i was engaged to someone who suffered severly with this as well. i was young and not as patient and understanding as i am now. needless to say, the relationship didnt work, but i do know how hard it is to live with someone like this.

I hope this guy gets home safe and nothing bad comes of this.

After taking a Abnormal Phycology class....I can see why people with "problems" stop taking their meds. The meds make the patients feel like shit and numb to the world but they can't function properly without them.

Well the other part of that also is that assuming the meds DO work, the patient finds themselves feeling generally ok and "over" the illness, but is very aaware of teh side effects - so they don't feel like they need the meds anymore.

I'm a little confused by this article though - it's dosn't really say that he has commited a crime or explicitly done anything wrong (besides being known to carry an illegal firearm).
Does "Silver Alert" simply mean that somebody is missing and their family is concerned about them?
Honestly it seems kind of cruel to publish all that about somebody, so that people (um, like us here) can sit around and talk about them.

Yeah, relaying from another site that has a lot of people that know him, He is OK. He has been talking with another person over there. Suspected that his dad may be the one who filed alert. Sounds like something small got blown way out of proportion.
