Online photos of urban decay...

Urban Exploring is one of my favorite hobbies... unfortunately the legality of it is questionable at best.

I have a ton of pictures from around the Triad from old mills to abandoned houses and businesses, we never take anything just walk around and take pictures and explore.

An old country club in Sedgefield, pretty sure its been demolished now...

In an old bank... Also in the Triad.

There's a bunch of websites devoted to Urban Exploration. A ton of stuff in Detroit - stuff I used to drive by, but never realize what it was (or was supposed to be). Kind of the "seeing the forest for the trees" thing.

I bet that the producers of "Revolution" would pay some big bucks to use these places as a set for the show. I liked the show at first, but it's getting a little too "X-files" for my tastes.

x2. It had a great concept but failed in so many other aspects

You mean like how in 15 years, nobody thought about steam power except in one area (Atlanta), nobody uses bicycles, sail boats, wind power, diesel or alcohol fuel and how it supposedly took trained militia 15 years to find Ben Matheson (and that someone who is supposedly on the lamb would continue to use his real name) in the middle of nowhere, yet Miles is found within days by people with no special skills, or the fact that an obese former computer geek hasn't managed to lose any weight in 15 years with no survival skills to speak of?

Aside from that, it's totally believable... :)

Awesome thread!! I too love the abandoned history.
A spot along the river I found this winter. Have no clue the history of this:

ruins of a sawmill

Not quite a falling down building but still tells a unique story of the county in SC I live in.

@XJsavage
Where... you've peaked my curiousity

One of the coolest things I've found in a while. Old Sheldon parish Church built in 1740s

I love how when you click on the image and it takes you to your photobucket page where you can order a Christmas card with that picture. Afterall, nothing says "Christmas" like a dilapidated 18th century church left to rot into oblivion!

Did some rambling this weekend in a ghost town, Shelton, once a prosperous community with a bottling factory and river ferry. Shivars bottling was famous for its natural spring taps thought to have healing qualities in the early 1900s. Factory closed down about 75 years ago and all its residents moved on, leaving behind some interesting structures.

hmmmmm, ferry crossings have been very good to me through the years.

our own St.Phillips Church ,at Old Brunswick Town,on the Cape fear River, south of Wilmington. Burned out in 1776 along with the rest of the town. Confederate Ft.Anderson built here also. Fort fell to the Union forces in feb. of 1865.

Abandoned high school I stumbled upon in my weekend ramblings.
