Ok so I really do have mechanical experience, but not really ever messed with gears, lockers etc. I was wondering if you guys can explain to me the difference in open diffs etc. I have seen many post about this but have no clue about it, also what type diffs come oem?

That's a good start
Basically as far as off roading goes

Open(most oem)-One wheel will have power and will spin in mud/sand/bad angles

Welded(no oem)-both wheels turn the same no matter what, on road you will have issues turning, and more tire wear

Locked-Both wheels turn the same, but only when power is applied

Selectable(Arb Locker)-You decide when to make your axles lock, you have the choice between open and locked whenever you feel like

In an open diff, the power will take the path of least resistance. In a straight line, flat pavement, and good traction both tires are getting power. If one tire starts to loose traction the power will go to that tire (path of least resistance)

Actually, in an open differential, rear wheel drive vehicle, both rear wheels receive power.
Yes, until one loses traction, from there it will take the path of least resistance and only rotate the slipping wheel.

good job..that was explained to a tee!!!!
