I would imagine theres more than enough gas flow to keep any cold air from flowing backwards up into the manifold and across the valves. I'm sure you'll be fine to drive it and go get the exhaust done.

I would do it in the daylight if it is cold out and you get on and off the throttle it is a very real possiblity of warping a valve.If you do it just take it slow and steady no hard acceleration or quick let offs.
