I hate putting the soft top on and off in the summer when I want to tow the jeep to go wheeling. Does anyone have a good recommendation for a cover that wold stand up to the wind as the jeep is being towed?

I've had a Rain Gear TJ cover for about 4 years and it's held up nicely. I've never used it while towing, but I don't imagine it would have any problems

Thanks, I will look into that one.

If you don't have a top on the Jeep normally, why do you need to cover it when it's being towed?

We have a Bestop full trail cover that we use sometimes, but I don't think it would stay on tightly enough to tolerate highway speeds. The little elastic loops at the bottom of the windshield and the straps at the doors (there are only one/side) would be the biggest issues.

I have a Rampage waterproof cab cover. Strangely, it has a Rampage tag sewed onto it, but it doesn't look like anything on their website.

It's got enough straps to secure it for towing... Probably. Youre welcome to try it out if you like.

Bestop trail cover wouldnt work unless you added some straps to it. Like Shawn said, the elastic isnt strong enough and mine are already stretched after last summers use. Id imagine you could run some type of bungee around windshield as there's two holes in either side by the doors which might help. Ill grab a pic in a minute

Could run something through the cab and around windshield. Or even some type of tape on window as well.

Thanks guys. I am looking for a cover because I am taking my jeep to the OBX later this month, and I don't want to keep putting the soft top on and off, and I really don't want to keep up with all the parts (it is a Bestop) while I am at the beach. so I just want something I could throw on quickly to cover the interior if I get caught in a rain shower on the way down there.

I may just have to put the soft top on to trailer and then figure out a place to put all the pieces once I get down there.

I'd say put the top on minus the windows. If u want, add the doors.

That should keep most the water out if stopped. Shouldn't get to much in it while moving.

Should be able to just flip the top down one you get there.

So I ended up going with the Bestop trail cover, it was a tight fit to go over my custom cage and rear speakers but it worked. I then put a ratchet strap all the way around the jeep at the front doors (over the roof, around the doors, and attached to the frame. It worked great, and survived the 5.5 hour trip to Avon. I wish I had taken a picture.
