I currently run a SM465 with a 203/205 doubler behind it. Needless to say she's a bit heavy. The combo is great for what I do but recently I've upgraded my suspension by purchasing a set of ORIs. I figure if I'm gonna start pimping the rig out I may want to rethink my weight how the truck is configured because the doubler hangs lower than I would like. The 205 is not clocked and because of this I've built a small skid. The skid, at times, gets hung. If I got rid of the doubler I could tuck my 4-link up higher and get a better break over angle. here's some pics.

So, what I was considering was (gulp) going with an automatic with maybe a 300 behind it or maybe a 400 with a 205 and later on a black box between to get my gearing back and make things flat. How bad of an idea is this? Any other options I should consider. Just for reference I run a D60 front and a 14 rear and 43" SXs.

If you are for pimp points go th400 and an Atlas and be done forever.

Or you could go with a th350/400....and a D300 with 4:1 kit and be close to where you are now

I'd love to go with an Atlas but the funds won't allow it. I'm currently having to pay off the ORIs while saving to build the front four link. Maybe in a year or two I can but for now I'm just thinking out loud. As for the 300 that's why I was thinking about it. Less weight, same ratio, clocked and still gear driven (read:tough).

I'd go with an auto and the black box or magnum box with the 205. Clock the 205 up as desired.
