Just curious as to what brand of shocks that Jeep ran on the Cherokee from the factory in 1999?

I believe they were sourced from Omix-ADA, but they could have been manufactured by any number of companies at the time. The Mopar Part numbers are Front 04897413AA Rear 52087777AF for Standard springs, and Front 4897414AG Rear 52087948AF for "Heavy Duty". You can still go to a dealership and buy them if you really want them...

Naaa I was just curious... My 99 has the originals on it but there are no tags or anything. I'm guessing it's time to replace them lol... Rides like a boat.

Yeah Probably time to replace those suckers :)

Lol yeah it's around 160 K. Rock Auto has some good deals so I'll probably get some from there. I normally keep up with these things. Vehicle maintenance is a pet peeve of mine. I don't drive it often, my wife does. I got in it the other day and drove it on the hwy for the first time in a long time. I really noticed how bad it was. She of course hadn't noticed anything. It almost made me seasick. LOL

In my experience, Old Man Emu shocks provide the best ride. Stock is a close second. Most of the cheaper stuff is valved too stiff.

My CJ/YJ lift kit with Old Man Emu springs, naturally came with their shocks. I felt like they bounced from side to side. The Vendor let me swap for adjustable Ranchos, & setting #2 seemed perfect.

I'm now thinking about putting a mild (2") lift on it. Most come with shocks and my rear springs sag pretty bad. This is the wife's DD so nothing crazy. Just enough to dress it up a lil.
