Here are some pics of the flood at the Lake James Landing campground on Lake James in Marion ,NC this past Monday. This happened from midnight Sunday to 6am Monday morning. What adds insult to injury was not one camper was notified by the new managers nor where they there busting their asses to help those in need :shaking: I am sure this is going to be a rough summer for them! Anyway, there is massive loss and this will take a long time to recover from. As if yesterday, there was still 2 feet of water in some areas. Hopefully it has dropped more over the night. The good thing is no one was injured in the ordeal. These pictures were taken from a boat we were in as we were tying up items ( jet skid, boats, docks) to keep them from floating away as well as picking up miscl items such as coolers, gas tanks, propane tanks, toys. been a real tough week.

holy hell.....i'm an insurance adjuster and that just makes me cringe. glad i dont deal with anything in the western part of the state.

I'm surprised none of those campers were floating.

Dang. Wonder if the blazer owner would be willing to sell?

They would have to be water tight first. ;)

Shawn is correct. They are actually more like a large sponge. Once the water gets in, everything just starts to swell up. So far eveyone I have talked to that has insurance has had their units declared a total loss. We were damn lucky as we had water under out camper and deck, but nothing inside or in the underside ( insulation). Makes me feel good now making the insurance payment thats for sure. Heading down this weekend to help folks clean up.

That really looked awful, I'm glad that the insurance is helping out.
Since all those RV's are going to be scrapped, I'm sure there are lots of good RV items they can sell off to make a little extra coin. I know a lot of folks on here are always building their own thing and need parts.

Ouch, how high was the water over the lakes normal elevation?
I've been watching the Lake levels, posted daily in the Charlotte Observer. Mostly interested in the Charlotte area, but at the worst point, I don't remember any Lakes, going past 105'.
That is 5' over Full pond, & typically, a 5' wall of water, over the top of the Dam. That's a lot of water. Mountain Island just today got down to Full pond. Most Lakes have a "target" level, of 97', or 3' below the top of the Dam. Flood warnings were issued all the way to Sumter, SC.
