i just bought a 90 dana60 (which is for sale pending this thread) and i didnt know it but it has a 36.5 inch perch width and my cherokee has 32" springs center to center. sooooo

if i did outboard my springs id have to move a body mount and i was wanting to s hackle reverse it so that seems like so difficult fab work if i outboard the springs. my frame is cracked under the rear springperch so i gotta do something anyways about that. or i could sell mine and get a 78-79 dana 60 and go with the plan? just thinking i may lose some flex by outboarding, but gain some stability since my shit is huge as hell now with the 42's

If i understand correctly what you are saying, why not just cut the spring perches off and weld new ones where you need them?

Because the driver spring perch is cast into the housing

eggszactly, the moust i could move it over would be 1/2 an inch by welding up the old center pin hole but thats not enough or worth the effort.

im thinkin i should just outboard

We ended up outboarding mine on the yj(91 HP60). Wasn't all that bad, just measured ALOT before we did any welding. We ran into trouble with the body mounts as well. Ended up grinding a "notch" along the frame for a piece of plate to slide into. Then welded the plate the frame, and body mount back to the plate. The hangers were then welded back to the plate. I'll see if I can get some pics. Mine flexes fine for me.....running 38's.

yeah that is a thought but the stability would be a real issue. this thing is gonna be pretty big with my 42's under it

when i had my wrangler i ran into the same problem. i shortened the pass. side axle tube by 2.5 inches and bought a 79 pass. side axle. i also moved the driver side perch over about .5 inches. this allowed me to center the axle and not move the springs
