Looking at the outer banks this spring and need recommendations on places (hotel/motel) to stay...but need to be dog-friendly.

Any tips?

Check with Outer Banks Blue Realty if you are taking a family, the spring rates are really cheap for a decked out house. Some houses are pet friendly for a extra fee but we usually get by with the small mutts.

The travel lodge allows dogs , but I think theres an extra $10 added to the bill . Its an ok place to stay , and its close to the beach .

Depending on the length of the stay I would suggest VRBO or CL vacation rentals . Most of the time you can get one of the older cottages for a similar price .

Looks like we'll just be able to swing 4 days/3 nights. My job is great, except for when I want to leave down for more than a long weekend. Probably a Friday thru Monday.

Theres a few places on VRBO that will rent for a 3 day weekend . If you can get a cottage it will make for a nicer stay . If you have any questions feel free to ask , I spent the first 30 years of my life there .

lol. It's been renovated (recently). It may not be the very best on the beach, but for the price, I was VERY VERY satisfied. VERY nice lobby, too.

We stayed at the Ramada in KDH once just for the pet friendly.
Can get rooms on priceline for ~79 night in the summer.
Its a bit old but has been refreshed recently...very clean...on the beach.

Not as nice as renting a house, but a lot cheaper....

Hey Kaiser 715. Been over 10 yr.s, when the CTB was there. I once had contacted the Chamber of Commerence; they sent a load of info. Some lost, much changed. Have map by the "Outer Banks Hotel/Motel Assoc. Members. Char. Observer listed- Outer Banks Bureau, 877-629-4386 ; www.outerbanks.org . Blake Mize [CTB] had 2 dogs, dont remeber where he stayed. lol

Fins and Feathers motel on the causeway crossing into Nags Head allows pets and there is an old hotel in Ocracoke that allows pets. It's like the oldest hotel in town but fairly nice. We stayed there a couple years back but can't remember the name.
