Outer Banks Permit Questions

Are the beach driving permits required year round (will be there the first week of April)?
Does the one cover all areas? Got a bit confused on different town permits?

Town permits are separate from CHNS permits.

Cape hatteras national seashore (NPS) permits cover the entire CHNS from coquina beach to ocracoke.

CHNS permits are normally available from beach permit offices, but with Covid, i believe it’s all online now, print ahead of time, and bring with you.

Nags head and kill devil hills have reciprocal program. So with a permit from either NH or KDH you can drive on both town beaches oct 1 to apr 30.

Town permits are available at either town hall.

Thanks. So buy CHNS plus either KDH or NH. Is the area around Carova a 3rd permit or is that covered?
