I found a good desl on an 89 cherokee but its overheating. He said it had a new head and new t stat and radiator. Is it worth messing with or will it be to big of a hassel to fix. I figure just updsting the cooli.g system might fix it but idk. Its a clean jeep 4.5 rustys lift 31/10.50 ats.that are 90% tread. I can get it for 1100 is it a good deal to u guys is what im asking.

whats the milage? title? condition? is it beat all to :poop: or is it pretty straight?
erither way sounds like a decent priced fixer upper... could be thermostat(still) rad flush, fan clutch, fan coolant temp sensor... looking @ like $200 tops to figure it out

or i believe 90 and older have closed loop system so it could be something as simple as air in system.....

could be air in the system or a bad pressure bottle. could also be the fan clutch. or the switch in the radiator for the fan. or a bad fan. 1100, auto or stick? don't forget mileage factor. check for blowby. I bought a 89 xj a while back for $900 with a 4 or 5" lift for $900, replaced motor+wiring harness from a 93. had only 155k on the clock when I bought it. sounds like a decent deal, as long as it isn't puking oil or shifting sloppy. btw the 89 trans is still alive and well at ~170k, behind a 97 motor in another 89 body. when they start getting 200k-250k or more is when you really ought check out the trans/motor for wear. take it down the road and see if the rear end growls... most all d35's I've rode on with 200k+ are growlers..

89

If you end up buying it...do yourself a huge favor and throw out the radiator, and put a rad from a 91+ in it. It has a radiator cap like most radiators. Eliminate the overflow bottle, plug an outlet on the heater valve and you are good to go.
