What do I need to pick up pbs out of Greenville? Fcc changed something a year or so back and we lost it. Used to could pick it up with the low profile antenna. I bought a new nicer seeming 80mile unit and still nothing. It's aimed directly towards gvegas. Trees are sort of in the way, but are 50ish yards away. I'm going to bring home a piece of conduit from work and jack it up another 5 ft and see if that helps. Any tips? I really miss the NC channel.

My parents have tried multiple antennas in multiple positions and still can't get channel 9 ABC even though it broadcasts from like 10 miles away.

What you need is for it to be 1997 again :D

I installed a large antenna in my attic several years ago, there’s a few websites out there that will tell you which channels you should be able to get and which directions the actual towers are; this fcc site was the first I found on google but I recall some better ones existed DTV Reception Maps

I also have a channel master signal booster like this in line: TV Antenna Booster 4

Just pay for YouTubetv or Hulu+live and be down with it

Ive got a splitter zooter but can't tell it does much.

There are some people on the board here that can attest... I've spent a lot of money on antennas and rotators for my house down south, it's 70+ miles in any direction to a tv station and I refuse to pay for satellite.

Anyway this last time after actually joining tv antenna message boards and reading and talking to people, this is the big dick antenna to get for long range and it really works.

Disclaimer being, it actually depends on which channels you want to watch. Vhf lo, vhf hi or uhf, different antennas bring in each better but this one is a great compromise for all.

Look at a GIS elevation survey map.
Could be that there is an elevation "hump" between you and the transmitter ...... VHF and UHF signals don't bend.

But they bounce.

Do you have an amp on the line? Are you sure the antenna is pointed in the correct direction?

I have one like yours in the attic and can pick up PBS out of chapel hill (West of there actually), but needed 20+ db of amp to do it, and it still macro blocks and freezes sometimes. My dad just put up a big yagi style antenna and is picking up stuff from 100mi off. I believe he's running an amp too, but I'll need to check.

WUNK is ATSC 3.0. Your TV might not be able to decode the signal.

Ah, the march 23 date makes sense. That's around when my brother lost the channel as well.

How would I go about seeing if my tvs are atsc 3.0 compatible? Bedroom TV is an early version lg smart tv, so it's probably out. Living room is 3yr old lg smar TV, playroom is 1yr old TCL. I'll check the upstairs TV this evening. I never go up there so I haven't tried it yet.

You'd have to look up the specs on the TV.

As far as PBS goes in your neighborhood, it looks like it's simulcast in ATSC 1 on other channels. You probably just need to pick the next-closest PBS tower and point your antenna there.

Been doing that. No luck. Closest tower is Farmville ~36mi and cant get shit. Pointed directly at it.

No, that's the WUNK tower. You won't be able to receive anything from that without an ATSC 3 tuner. You need to point your antenna at Roanoke Rapids (WUNP/36) or Jacksonville (WUNM/19). They should be ATSC 1.

Ah gotcha. I'll be giving it a spin this evening then. I used to could pick up all three, pre 2021. I'll try with the new antenna tonight
