This is a three-day event with training, vendors and a competition to be held at The Flats. It will be a great opportunity for people to get together, learn on both the basic and advanced levels and have a lot of fun! Info on the event can be found at http://www.overlandrally.com/Overland_Rallies_and_Workshops/Southeast.html

The organizers have offered a 20% coupon code for NC4x4 members! Enter "nc4x4" for your discount on day passes and event passes.

All of the classes are repeated each day so that people can attend as many as they are able to.

Training curriculum will include:

-Basic 4WD, instructed by Mike Boehm

-Advanced 4WD, instructed by Overland Experts

-Adventure Motorcycle training for both basic and advanced riders

-Outdoor Travel Photography, instructed by Ben Edmonson

-International Border Crossings and Vehicle Shipping by Scott Brady

-Wilderness medicine by Remote Medical International

-Seminars on expedition logistics and overland travel skills development

-Presentations on unique vehicle setups as well as domestic and international routes

The folks from U-Joint Offroad are going to convert an E350 Ford Van from 2WD to 4WD on-site!

Test your skills in the Expedition Trophy Challenge!

Stay tuned for more or check out the Facebook page for frequent updates to the schedule!

Sounds like some pretty cool things are gonna be happening.

Us weirdo 4x4 van types will there in droves. We (UJOR) are actually doing a two to four wheel drive conversion on Saturday.
Should be fun

I have to stay away now!
I have a 1995 Ford E150 high top conversion van that I would love to convert to 4wd. I know it's crazy and impractical, but I love the thought of it. Having a conversion van in 2011 is crazy enough, but a 4wd one would be ridiculous!!:driver:

4wd vans are awesome! You HAVE to GO now!

Damn! I'll be flying back on the 10'th from Mexico (border town Mexico for work, not the nice touristy areas for fun) and the in-laws are arriving on the 11'th. Would have loved to attend this. :(

not super clear on the pricing structure. what classes seminars will be charged for/free?

Don't forget your NC4x4 discount code, or enter to win passes for the whole weekend!

Price to enter

I don`t know if anybody has the answer or a computer if they are already there.
I would like to come out Sat morning do some classes and camp with my two boys.
Any idea of price ?
The price structure doesn`t seem to include this option.
And will the 20% nc4x4 discount be availabe at the gate?
Thanks John

Sometimes work sucks! I sooooooo wish I could make this, but without the work, no pay the bill!

A day pass is $20 for adults, I could not (with a quick look) find anything about kids. I'll see if I can find out about that and about tickets at the 'gate.'

The schedule of events and some other information is now posted as well.

Watch us fellows from U Joint Offroad convert a 2wd van to 4wd on Saturday, in the dirt. I expect temps in the low 60's with a refreshing breeze...I may not get what I expect.

UJOR is heading out tomorrow with 3 vans rolling down I40 around 6 am.

Does anyone have a phone # for the event coordinator???

I think he's en route to The Flats, but may already be there... I'm going to try to get in touch with him.

Sorry for the late response, I heard back from Brian, the organizer, overnight.

Kids are free if they are under 16.

People can register on site, and the discount is ok.
