P/U bed Laws?

Anyone know what the laws are for ridding the the back of a Pickup in NC?
 
but i found out they dont like it when you sit on the bedrails, and also they get mad about you riding in bed without tailgate but cant legally enforce that one.
 
Huh? I thought that was only true in rural situations. And that no one is allowed in the bed in counties over a certain population. I'll research and post back up when I get more time.

Seems like I remember the law being that you just can't have an open container in the same compartment as the driver?

The wife want like to here that. I have a camper shell, and no sliding rear window on the cab. It's not possable to hand thing back and forth. On trips she sat back there with a beer or 12.
 
I have a long story about that. It starts out like, "this one time, at Myrtle Beach..."

That when I saw the sign on the inside of the drunk tank that said "Welcome Gaston County Resisdents".

That is too funny.

The main thing the police care about is not sitting on the bed rails, or something taller that them(cooler or toolbox).
