Has anybody researched/invested in the Iraqi Dinar and if so what is your opinion on it.My wife works w a bunch of folks who have invested in them and to be honest I'm waaay skeptical but knowing some of the people who have bought them I'm willing to consider it's legit.
Heres a link to the site and info.I googled it and theirs about as much info for as against.

I've heard from several people that it is a terrible investment. Not sure why and I can't back up that response, other than that people have told me that and I just accepted it because I wasn't interested in investing in it anyway.

Yeah the "potential" return is crazy.Almost to good to be true imo.I'm really leanin toward passin but at the same time Id be sick if I'd missed out on a good oppertunity.

Try tungsten and silver. NOT silver dollars, nothing legal us tender.

Yeah I done that before I posted this morning. In all honesty it was too much info for my mind to absorb after my mega dose of Nyquil last night. I was hopin for the cliff notes.:D

I really feel its a scam but some of the people I know whove bought are pretty sharp about these things, but I'm sure Bernie Maidoff had some sharp folks givin him money also.

I did work for a guy in Raleigh who ran up a big scam.I think even the wariest of investors are easily duped when they start seeing an immediate return on their investment. The guy that I did work for and routinely talked to seemed like the most honest and straight forward guy around, but the truth was he was paying investors "returns" with what he was scamming from new investors. He made a lot of money before he got caught and ran off.We installed 19 top of the line Plasmas that he had the frames custom painted Porsche colors as well as hundreds of thousands of dollars in electronics over the years we did work there. Some of these Scam artists are really slick.I will include the link on the guy I did work for.

Too late on silver(in backwardation), it's getting ready to rocket. Hide and watch. Tungsten, you may still have a chance.

I bought about 100000 dinar when I was in Iraq in 2005 more as a souvenir. If the political situation improves, there is the potential of a massive return. Compare the USD to the Kuwaiti Dinar. Kuwait is the exporter of the oil that runs out of and through Iraq. If Iraq's situation stabalizes and the Iraqi Dinar even gets to 1:1 with the USD, I will pay off my house because of a souvenir. I would be weary of buying dinar as an investment though.

Speaking of Madoff, I read a great book "No one would listen" by Markopolos. The guy that collected all the proof that his business was a scam and was impossible to replicate his earnings even if someone knew exactly the future of the market. The funny theme in this book is how the smartest people in the investment community agreed that it's impossible, but they still invested with him.

My advice is stay away. Second is to get a copy of this book. It's seriously one of the best I've read in a long time. It also makes it clear how out of touch the gov't regulators are!

I talked to a guy who got back from a tour last fall and he had bought a couple of 100,000 himself and thats what he said, that until the troops were out of there and the Iraq goverment was in full control that it was'nt gonna be worth anything.
