I bought a couple of mossberg shotguns from a buddy of mine. One is semi-auto and the other is pump action. I think both have composite stocks. Well they both have horrible homemade camo paint jobs with spray paint and I want to take it off without ruining the blueing on the guns, and bring it to original color. Only thing I know to use is Mineral Spirits to remove it. Any guys on here done this, and what did you use not to ruin the weapon. Thanks for any advice. Cheers!!

Try break cleaner or acetone (as pure as possible). Solvents should not hurt the blueing. But....I would do a small area first to see how it affects the finish and clean that area as fast and good as possible. The composite stock, I'm not so sure.

both shotguns are spray painted completely from stock to barrel. Thanks for the info. I am going to try it out this weekend.
