I have a rust free 1972 blazer. it had a wrap on it that I just removed. primer and mixed panels underneath.

I'm not a shiny show guy but thus us a sweet classic truck.

I'm debating cheapo paint vs nice paint.

seems like several thousand difference

any recommendations or suggestions?

will I get my money back on a nice paint job?

I love a good paint job (I own a custom paint shop). But rarely (read: almost never) will you be able to get your money back out of a high $$ show paint job or even a real factory quality respray (jams, remove all trim and glass, undersides of hood/trunk ect).

If you are going to drive the vehicle on a regular basis it is going to get chips, scratches, dings, etc. As long as you are happy with a solid color (non-metallic or pearl,) single stage paint is the way to go. It is much more affordable, easy to touch up, very durable and when sprayed right can look damn near as good as a base/clear. You just can't properly do a metallic or pearl paint because the flake/pearl will not layout correctly.

Thanks for the feedback!

Since resale or car shows aren't on my near future. Injustnwant to drive enjoy and not worry about where I park it!

I'll probably go with a less expensive single stage.
