I sprayed my Jeep with some black rattlecan bedliner from Walmart awhile back and I'm wanting to spray over it with some white spray paint and I was wondering if that would work or if I'd need to strip the bedliner off and then paint? Here's picture of my Jeep and you can somewhat see what I'm painting over. I painted below the doors on each side of the Jeep but enough blabbing here's the picture.

Edit: The picture wasn't working so here's a link to the thread where you can see the Jeep. Thanks!

strip that junk shit off and never do it again

your gonna have to find that same bedliner stuff and see if it's paintable otherwise it'll flake right off if it sticks at all' Or you could scuff it with some 120 grit in a small spot and just try it

if sanding dulls the surface, then you might be able to paint over it. i guess you'll have to try it to find out. if not try gas, acetone, or paint thinner

get the aerosol paint stripper (often called airplane paint remover) spray it in the sun let it sit 30 minutes and take a paint scraper.....it will come off (Im not gonna start a war here between the various bedliner folks, but we sprayed a set of valve covers in the back of a friend's professionally Line-X'ed truck and it bubbled....

yeah, the other day I used it on my cj hood. no joke i just dripped some on the top and it ate all 4 layers of previous owners paint in less than a minute. Use it but keep the women and small children away.

Needle scaler, SERIOUSLY!

Most of those crappy spraycan bedliners have terrible adhesion properties. With a needle scaler you can break under the surface and peel it right off. It will rough up your paint a little bit, but a bit of thick primer and some sanding and you'll be good.

I use this method when people bring me trucks for Scorpion work that have crappy liners on them. I don't need to worry about the needle scaler scratching the paint though because the Scopion adheres better to that kind of surface.
