Heading to URE at the end of the month for a few days of camping on the trail and was wondering about leaving the tow rig and trailer at one of the trailhead parking lots. Is it cool? Has anyone ever lost anything sitting down there? Just dont need the trailer I'm borrowing to get gone.

People have had their cat converters stolen.

And more! DO NOT leave anything, trailers, rigs, etc in FS parking lots overnight! Leave them at The Outpost or somewhere else with more traffic and people around.

The only problem w/ leaving @ the Outpost is that you have the legal roads to drive on to get back to the trails.

You could always unload your rig and stuff at the trailhead, then take the trailer out of the forest and find a place for it. I agree with everyone though, I wouldn't leave stuff sitting in the trailhead parking lots overnight. There's always someone that has the "finders/keepers" disorder.

kind of a tough situation.
you could camp off the dirt roads somewhere but then you'd still have to drive to the trail head and unload.

thieves suck

So, is the grass parking area near the Arrowhead campground just as sketchy as the trail head gravel lots?

Yes, they will allow you to leave your trailer or rig in the spare lot. It's nice to let them know in the store if you intend to do so. That way they know someone's not in trouble, etc.

i frequently leave my truck/trailer in the rocky mount parking lot for 1-2 nights. i've never had any problem. i've got insurance on my stuff for a reason, and it's not so i can go through the hassle of leaving everything miles away at the outpost.:flipoff2:

Plus you wouldn't miss one even if it was damaged or stolen :)

We got a large ratchet strap taken on sat... plus, dont park your trailer at the outpost and drive to the trails in a rig not tagged for the road; the rangers dont like it. They made us go back and get our tow rig/trailer and bring it into the FS parking lots.. and we were lucky to not get a ticket.
