Parting with Lil-RED... MAYBE

If you run up to Granite, the used car lot there...Carolina Auto Mall or something like that, right on 52 at the 4way stop by the post office used to be able to appraise 'classic' rigs, dunno if they still can though.

Now that you mentioned it, I remember seeing that place. Never gave it a thought when looking though.

All this over $45.
I'd have just paid it and moved on.

For me, it really wouldn't matter the value. Yes I would have paid it, but it's the principal. If you just keep on rolling over, we'll be a communist state yet. It's the little stands that prevent a big blow out. However, if you don't do anything about it, and you're just being cheap, then that's a different story.

Granny I'm with you, I've fought property values every time they jack them on me. Did they same thing on my vehicles to. The way I see it, if you don't fight them now you'll be living in a goverment compound when you retire, because they taxed all the money out of you and you won't be able to afford the taxes on your own house and vehicles.

I lived here long enough to hear them say the taxes from speedway and the mall would "pay" for everything. All it did was create more infrastructure needed to maintain and raise taxes even more.

And, people complain about tent sheds and such, but people don't want to fix up there own property anymore because they know the tax man will slam them. When they came to my house last time they were eyeballing the "tent" my Jeep sits in. Wanted to know if I was going to put a permanet roof on it and the square footage! Then they took a tape mesure to my tin roof shed out back where my lawnmower sits.

I tell my nephews my jeeps going to end up like the "red barchetta" in the rush song.

I've been in the area for 25 years now. I know what you mean, and I agree 100% with you. I would be willing to bet the asphalt in front of the speedway has thickened by 10-15 feet in that short time, and that is just one small example. The Concord mall was a joke then, and still is now. Bottom line, if you don't smack the sticky fingers away from your pocket now and then they will just keep digging like a bunch of hungry bugs.
