Parts for 2-piece front driveshaft?

I'm beginning to source the parts for the driveshafts in my buggy project.

My intention was to use a u-bolt style yoke welded to the driveshaft tube at the t-case, then machine a dana 60 pinion shaft with the head cut off to slide it into the tube. This end will have a removable yoke just as the pinion did so the pillow block can be pressed on a machined section of the pinion shaft as well. From there i'll just be using standard 1350 u-bolt yokes and a long travel spline.

My question is does any have a better way of making the two-piece front shaft? Either from sourcing parts from a donor vehicle or just getting parts from the spicer catalog? If so, what vehicle or what parts?

Just a thought. I'd just source parts from the rear of 3/4 or 1 ton lwb truck w/ a 2 piece dshaft. Then use the center support from that and just cut the shafts down.
 
ive thought about that, but most all factory two piece driveshafts use the splined yoke at the center bearing to act as the slip yoke and I need a solid top section with a slip yoke in the bottom section. Is there a make/year that positively attaches the yoke on the end instead of the common slip yoke?

Honestly I don't know, you might want to call up to universal automotive and ask them. They should be able to put something together for ya.

my most recent idea was using the rear two-piece driveshaft from a 1999 and newer super duty (the one that has a fixed/inboard upper midship shaft which only come on some of the LWB ones) for donor parts to lathe off and use. Has anyone ever done this? and does anyone know if the midship yoke is the same as the pinion yokes so i could get a high angle (30 degree) u-bolt replacement yoke and get rid of those straps?


and those carriers are nice, but i'm trying to be as cost effective as possible. I called them about those and one with yokes and u-bolts is about $400...

and to provide an update, my thought of the above didn't really work out. The pinion was hard enough (not surprising) to explode several carbide lathe cutters...so unless anyone has done this and knows a trick, then I've scrapped this idea. I know people have done this, I just don't know how...
