Parts Terminology

Had a buddy just the other day ask me what replacement front "hubs" I suggest for his super duty. Told his ass warn premium or if he's got the dollhairs grab some yukons.

Proceed to send a video several days later showing hime removing a FUBARED unit bearing......had to tell him he wasn't going to find what I suggested

I wish I had started writing down every mispronounced, misidentified, misunderstood, etc. part that a customer asked for while working at a parts counter. And Lord forgive me that I don't understand what you're asking for in some language other than English.

I can't stand it when people call them "rears". A front rear and a rear rear?

Front end/rear end or front axle/rear axle is much easier to understand and doesn't sound completely stupid.
Preach brother. I'm still triggered by this story:

Probably a decade back (or more) when craigslist was a happenin place some dude had a listing for d44 front rear or something like that. I presumed it to be a listing for a front and rear axle. Our ensuing back and forth was miserable, as neither knew what the other was talking about. Can't remember if i got any axles or not but I definitely developed a hatred for a 'frontrear'

"Fanny" is usually their term of choice. They're weirdddd. This seems like a good place to put this...

Sometimes they both get scrambled though
I once scrambled a yoke.
Last ECORS race in 2011. I had a frame mount fail on my 3 link. I ended up breaking the front diff yoke with the crankshaft.
Yes, you read that correctly.

Seems appropriate...
looked back through old build threads and didn't see any pics of the carnage.
Frame mount broke, axle rolled under the chassis, pinion pointed up, broke driveshaft, shocks, bellhousing, ripped starter off, gouged the oil pan and broke the yoke.
Happened on lap 1.
After the race, I held the starter to the flexplate by hand, cranked it up and drove it to the trailer while pouring oil into the valve cover.
It's still around wheeling.

These popped up on my FB memories today. Good timing!
