Got a hf parts washer a while back and never put it together until the other day. It's a 20 gallons washer. Is diesel fuel ok to use in it? If not what should I use.

I use the solution that Oriellys sells. House brand. Seems to work great.

Any advice on where to get the best deal on 20 gallons of mineral spirits.

Typically, Varsol is whats used in parts washers, there isn't a lot of difference between Varsol and good old fashioned kerosene.

Where do I find clear kerosene? Isn't the stuff they sell at has stations red?

I actually work in a paint factory that uses around 3000 gallons of mineral spirits a day so I'm going to talk to the boss man and see if I can get 20 gallons but I'm not too hopeful.

I used Mineral spirits until it went to $8 a gallon.Jodi had a thread about this a while back maybe he'll chime in and tell us what he went with.

diesel or kero. don't matter what color it is cause its gonna be dirty
when i get finished. i change it before every engine build.

I ended up buying parts washer solvent from my local bulk motor oil distributor.
Works great, no smell and wasn't too expensive.

That made me remember a guy I know who sells oil also and I gave him a call. He's suppose to be getting back to me w a price on 20 gals on mineral spirits. We'll see.
X2 on the parts washer solvent it works better and the reside does not smell as bad until it's ready to change.
BTW lots of gear oil soaked parts and dirty solvent smells like ass!
That's stuff even soaks thru a pair nitrile gloves, your hands will be dry but the smell is there.
