I know PayPal provides a cool service, and someone has to pay for it..I'd just rather it not be me :huggy:

They've been changing the rules and updating their website so it is harder and harder to perform a free money transfer. First of all, you need to use funds from your existing paypal balance or a direct transfer from your bank account. If you use a Credit Card or if you use a Debit Card...the seller (reciever of funds) will pay a small fee...right now its thirty cents plus 2.9% of the transaction.

The second part is new (looks like June 3 2009). When sending money, the default screen is for Purchases. This is where the fee will apply no matter what. The updated user agreement says all purchases are subject to the fee. To avoid the fee, click the Personal tab, right next to the Purchases tab. Then you will get a choice of personal transactions such as Gift, Payment Owed...they will work with no fee, as long as the sender does not use credit/debit card.

cool, thanks for the hint.

seing as how they just deleted my credit card for some unknown reason....all they can do is direct transfer.

Not sure if this is still the case, but at one point PayPal was NOT a bank and NOT FDIC insured. Basically you were just handing your money to 'someone' who didn't have to follow any normal banking type rules..

Are there any other good payment services?

When Ebay bought PayPal thats when things started going down hill....

So far, all of the money sent to me , thru paypal, for the charity drive, have all been sent as ''gifts'' and so far, no fees.

The more important thing is, starting 2010, they report to the IRS:flipoff:

Actually it's 2011, and only for acounts totalling > $20k and receive >200 payments.

So Dylan will still be under the radar until he starts raising some serious coin

I aint worried about no radars 100% LEGIT HERE......I'd like to raise enough money to show up on a radar though. That would be great...I think.

additional note...it looks like when you use the method above, Paypal does not include the address of the person sending money, so the sender should include it in the comments or PM/email separately.

AH! Thatexplains it.
i've been using this method almost exclusively :)fuck-you: PayPal!), and some people have been complaining they didn't get my address w/ it.
now I know why.

ECORS Likes GIFTS....

Be careful though. I've heard that there is no recourse if you use this method and get ripped off.

that's a pretty good point, it'd be hard to go back to PayPal and dispute the transaction later, "He didn't send the item..." lol

OK from now on only friends get "gifts", everybody else is SOL.

FYI, doing paypal this way will not update your account automatically. That means someone will have to hand do it for every member. That's a lot of work.

The board software works with Paypal, NOCHEX, Worldpay, Authorize.Net,2Checkout,
Moneybookers, CCBill.

I don't know anything about the others.
