Whats up with people lately..........."I'll be there tomorrow at 4 to pick it up" ........two days later, "I'm comming right now"
next day.........I'll be there on Sunday...........No Email, Phone call, pigeon, etc.
Anyone else go through this alot? Not just one person, but several.......and not just on this board. If I didn't need to sell why do I put up with this......changing my schedule around for no shows.
I cut and sell Hay. Happens regularly with that also.
Rant over. Venting complete!
 
happens to me all the time with stuff on craigslist. my favorite is when a total stranger who lives 2 hours away tells you hes comming this weekend, hold it for him.
 
Yep, happens a lot.
I get very annoyed by this kind of behavior - as aresult I try my best and be very consciencious of other people's schedules, treat them how I'd want to be treated.

I find one way to cut down on no-shows is request some small bit of payment up front if possible. Funny how people make it a poin tto get there on time when they've already got an investment.
 
I have had this before, but lately it seems to be the opposite.
Had a deal worked out on one part I needed, guy said he was going out of town and would contact me Monday (this was like a thursday) to arrange pick up....then the nxt Monday he posts sold....I had offered to paypal him the money when offered and he sold it for less...

Then I had a guy who was going to do some tube work for me....price was a bit high but highly recommended...then he just quit rsponding....

starting to think my cash is no good.
 
Yeah .. I have the reverse problem also.
Here. other boards, craigslist. Even one item with a big price tag.

I guess they jus' don' won' my money.

I can imagine. Sometimes its just easier to throw it in the trash.

I usually put my free stuff by the driveway and tell everyone that if they want it to come get it, here it is, don't call me just come and get it. After a week if its still there it goes to the dump (usually)
 
I'm pretty prompt, and to the point. Unless something serious or work related comes up, I show up when I say I'm going to, either when buying or selling.

Even when I backed out of a sell with a buyer on my front axle, I called him and told him that day, and told him the truth as to why. He wasn't very happy with me, which is understood, but I didn't lie to him, avoid him, or any of that other crap.
 
yeah I do a lot of craigslist and ebay...
I waited down on 74 near monroe one day for an hour for this asshole to come buy something... never came.

I live in Huntersville. Have the fucking decency to call back!

When I buy shit I'm straight up. I tell you what I'm plannin on doin and sometimes how and when...

If I am buying somethng I always try to paypal you the money right then so that I know it is mine and at my disgression to come to your house and get it. Unless we are meeting. I drove clear up to Raleight to get 2 sets of tires and axles from 2 different guys. They both lived out in the middle of no where. even made a trip clear out to Rock hill (I think that is the town on the border) SC to get tires. That was a 6 hour drive for me. Definitely worth it though.
 
I have better response on craigslist if its around 30-50 if its less people say they want it and don't show..

I've found what works is to tell people I won't hold it unless they call me when they are on their way and I will hold it for 1hr until they get here.
 
I pretty much stopped buying/selling used stuff like I used to. One good thing about working at Gallloways thou is i get smokin deals set in my lap all day long, been thinkin bout gettin back into buyin/sellin used parts, that's literally how I got the $$ to build my Jeep


Only problem is I'm involved in so much I stay so busy nowadays doin all these events and whatnot I don't have time to mess with it like I used to :smokin:
 
I get their phone # and call them if they are not here by the time they said they would be,if after the 2nd call (15-20 mins later) I don't get an answer I'm off on my way to do what I need to do.I learned along time ago to not wait around on people,if I'm meetin people somewhere I get 1/2 up front.People callin "dibs" dont work with me either if you want it you better be sending a deposit or comin to get it.I've had people call dibs and go weeks without a reply until I post something sold and then they get mad cause I didn't hold it for them.:shaking:
 
If I'm not coming I would tell someone, if I'm runing late I would call ahead of time, I have waited on too many people to treat others like that. I like it when you say you have something for free and people are like "can you ship it?"
