Phone Mounts for Trails

Ram mount setup. Had a quick grip but my new phone is too big for it so may try the x grip. Similar set up with a tab tite for a little galaxy tablet with maps

I use a ram mount with the 1/4-20 ball end to replace one of the dash bolts. They have a lot of different mounting methods.

We use these in everything:

Amazon product ASIN B00I608BJ8
They'll hold an ipad mini to the dash.

There’s one of those on the dash in my LJ from the PO. I was wondering what brand it was. I haven’t really tried it on the road or trail yet, but it seems like my IPhone doesn’t want to stick that great to it. I do have a silicone case on it so that could be why. I found an extra magnet in the console but it won’t stick to it at all, so maybe the magnets lose their strength over time as well.

There are metal pads that adhere to the back of the phone case with 3M tape. The magnet is in the dash mount. The oldest ones we have are from about 2017, still as strong as ever. No messing around with little arms or grippers, just hold the phone near the mount and the magnet takes care of the rest. But if you're using a silicone case, it probably won't work.

I see, that makes sense.

Found the pads on Amazon for $8. Ordered one to give it a try. Thanks.

I have this one on my Harley, am never scared of loosing my phone. I got one to attach it to my jeep as well. The ram mount is nice, but this one is a beast. Obviously wouldn’t wanna use it on a phone with no case.

Worth noting if you have a newer iPhone it will interfere with their charging scheme

I have one of these I secure my intercoms to the rzr and trail rig with and I can tell you they work well. I've have had the rzr on its roof and the trail rig on its side and its not budged.

It has a screw that joins the tube clamp to the mount. I was thinking of drilling and tapping my tube to attach it there without a clamp

This is exactly what I did. I just drilled the tube for 10/24 and used a pan head screw to attach it. I threw away the bracket. Not a single problem.
