Me and my wife are going up to pigeon forge second week in November. We've never been and I wanted to ask about what places are worth going to, and whats not? I've also been looking for places to stay so whats a good place to stay thats not a long drive from everything? Any good deals out there on cabins or hotels, or are they all pretty much about the same? Any help, suggestions, ideas, past experiences, or warnings appreciated.

Thanks

I enjoy the muscle car museum in Sevierville, my wife enjoys the horse back riding and ATV tours(all are pricey). My favorite part is getting away from the kids for a couple of days!

We have had really good luck with Cabin Fever Vacations. They run some good promotions from time to time, especially in the off season.

If you are into shows we have enjoyed Country Tonite and the Comedy Barn.

Smoky Mountain Knife Works is always on my to do list.

I got married there. Spent every holiday there one year and usually go at least 10 times a year. I call it myrtle beach of the mountains. I've stayed in cabins mostly. Most are in gatlinburg but are only 25 mins from attractions. Gatlinburg falls resort has great deals..I usually plan last minute. If you go on there website a few days before a weekend they have 50% off to fill cabins. Cabins of gatlinburg is another good one. Dinner shows are nice.. lumber jack show. Dixie stampede. They have helicopter rides. And lots of shopping. Be sure to stop by the buy one pair of boots and get 2 pair free store. If your coming from gatlinburg its on the right past the campgrounds. Have fun!

Cade's Cove in the Smoky Mountain State park is a great free drive that you'll likely see wildlife. Try to not go through it on a weekend. It can be bumper to bumper with cars & people getting out to take pictures. Be sure to count the number of BBQ & pancake restaurants along the main drag in Pigeon Forge. I think we counted 17 places with pancake in their name over a 3 mile stretch! Not too many options for a wife on a healthy diet there!

as said, it is like mrytle beach in the mtns so be prepared for traffic. There is plenty of shows, and shopping. Everything isnt cheap, but the dinner shows seem to be a better deal if you are going to a show. Dollywood at Christmas is a good time. Hatefields & McCoys is good. Wax Museum isnt worth the money. Ive heard Titanic is good but not cheap. Smokey Mtn Opry, & Country Tnite are good shows. Memories is an older show, and not that good anymore. I suggest visting the Christmas Inn & Store if you are into that stuff. If you have kids, they have a singing Santa that really does a good job and a mini steam train that kids like.

We normally go atleast once a year, and stay in cabins off Wears Valley Rd. Its about 10 mins back into town but far enough away to be quiet. Traffic is normally concentrated to Seiverville and upper Pigeon Forge; so if you find a place in/around Gatlinburg it is less crowded.

If your looking for cheap entertainment in the late evening go to the island.
Its where the big sky wheel is at you can't miss it.
They have bands thay play and lots of rocking chairs sitting around.
Oh and if you go to outdoor world in severville be carefull when going into the bathroom sometimes the sign can be misleading :eek:ops:

We live about 45 mins away so we go pretty regular.Bass pro shops is right off the exit on Int 40 and is always something cool to do,Sevierville has several antique shops if your into that but try to stay in Pigeon forge or Gatlinburg if you can.Its been a while since we have stayed in GB but if memory serves me most of the hotels/motels are older and kinda dated. My fil owns a cabin that's 1/2 way between PF and GB so we usually stay there.I might be able to get you a 3day/2 night pass but you will have to sit thru a 90 min sales pitch.Plenty to do and eat, several new resturants,Logans has 2 meals for 14.99 on Mon/Tues,Hatfield-McCoy or Dixie Stampede are both good food and entertainment but kinda pricey.New Joes crabshack also.Bring some good walking shoes because theirs LOTS of shopping over there.Expect a crowd because there is no recession or off season over there. We went over last Tues to get my son some new shoes for school and it was packed out.
