Pilot Mountain wildfire

300 or even 900 acres really isn't that big. It seems to be moving rather slow compared to a lot of woods fires that have big wind pushing them. It looks like they should have plenty of time to get defensive measures in place to hold it.

I hope the sparks or debris doesn’t jump to the surrounding forest. Supposed to be windy later today.

Broke out in a cold sweat when I saw ‘breaking news’ about forest fires when I was in the general vicinity…after seeing how big and how hot I could get the fires I was tending at a rehearsal dinner. Ended up it was about 15 minutes away, but there was a moment of panic when I realized the timeline tracked and knew it was dry/windy. I couldn’t Google my coordinates and the fires quick enough.
No shat brother... was doing the same exact thing HERE (new octagonal fire ring made of 1/4" plate 🤓 ) early last week, about 24 hours before the county issued a burn ban (30 days before the usual/customary Commonwealth-wide ban Dec-Apr). Typically, I'd have said fawk that, since the fire ring just got christened and continued on my merry way, but had a touch of wisdom (= wife asked me NOT to challenge 😁)... now glad I can't be fingered for causing any damage (at least due to "fire")
