This comes up often enough that I think maybe we need to have a little discussion about exactly what the rules are for advertising 4x4-related businesses. These are the same rules that Rob came up with back in May 2006, but it seems a lot of folks aren't familiar with them.
If you want to use this forum to advertise that you or your business can do 4x4 fabrication or repair in exchange for money, you've got to become a Vendor. Only legal business entities (tax ID, etc) are eligible to become Vendors. If you're doing some shadetree side work out of your garage, you can't become a Vendor, and you can't use the forum to advertise.
If you work out a deal with somebody on the side or in PMs, that's none of NC4x4's business, and frankly, it's not something the board should really get involved with. But as soon as you post up about your "customer" or that somebody should get in touch with you because you can build that for them, you're going to get a message from a moderator.
If you want to post pictures in Build Threads of the little side-job you did for somebody, you're more than welcome to do so -- but again, if it becomes a pimping thread, the mods are going to delete it.
The Vendor advertising money goes a long way toward covering the operating expenses around here. NC4x4 has a responsibility to ensure those guys get the most for their advertising dollar.
