I bet that both of them have the same number, but you are reading it wrong. That particular number simply matched THAT pinion to THAT ring gear. The only numbers on a Dana 35 that have anything to do with setup will be the pinion variance number. That will be a number ranging from -3 to +3 and will be on the pinion. Some aftermarket gearsets will have a nominal measurement engraved also.
