Place is looking good

You folks that spend your free time cleaning and taking care care of the place are doing an awesome job. Just wanted you folks to know that people notice the difference in the place and that your efforts aren't going unnoticed.
X2. I always take a trash bag with me on the trails, not only for my trash but also the trash that the newbie (has to be people that don't know better) four wheelers leave on the trail. Has to be under age drinkers throwing out the beer cans. If you wheel, if you camp, if you hunt, rule #1 is always leave the place as you found it!

Fixed it

I agree 100% with the OP and also would like to say thanks as well. I'm back to wheelin after a 25 year absence and Uwharrie is outstanding and too much fun.

RenegadeT, thank you for understanding what I meant to stay, if my younger brother Travis would had read my post. He would have corrected me right away. We started going to URE as kids, it had to be back in the 70's with our Dad. There was no Arrowhead campground then, the campsites were at the boat ramp. Our Dad taught us a lot growing up and one that my brother always remembers is to leave it better than you found it. When we would leave a campsite in the woods, you could not even see where the fire pit was. Our Dad also taught us, if you borrow something you always return, it better than when you borrowed it.

I have been going to URE for over 40 years and it is in the best shape that I can ever remember seeing it. We have our 3rd generation kids (adults now) bringing their friends and showing them a place that they never knew about, that is in their own backyards. It takes all of us to keep it beautiful for generations to come.

I second that. The trail system was in great shape this weekend. Sadly I cannot say the same for the campsites off of the FS roads. Almost every one I passed had trash left piled up in the fire pit. It is a shame that grown folks don't have enough sense to bag it up and find a trash can.

From what I can see this is a direct violation of federal regulations (36 CFR, 36 CFR 261.11) and can result in a penalty of up to $500 and 6 months in prison... if only the Forest Service could deputize me, I'd be happy to "educate" some folks! ;)

A couple of us Bronco folks rode this weekend. Everything looked good. We did a bit of work on Dutch John including trash clean up there and on the other trails we rode. Ended up with the least amount of trash we've ever picked up. I hope this trend continues!!
