My fiance and I are looking for a good outside place to get hitched this spring. I've Googled a lot and found the main wedding places and they're not off the list yet but we are looking for a place near water, a stream, pond, or lake that accommodate a small to medium service and maybe the reception afterwards. I'd say within a 50 mile radius of Charlotte and or Lexington, NC
Y'all got any suggestions?

I was just in a wedding here last summer: http://www.castlemcculloch.com/weddings.asp

It has everything you'd want. My buddy had the ceremony outside, under the tree canopy, right in front of a pond with a fountain. After the ceremony, we walked 100 ft. to the reception.

We got married at The Quarry at Carrigan Farms in Mooresville.

It was beautiful, has a beautiful pond at the bottom of the quarry, and they had a very large shelter in case of rain. Their food was excellent. We opted for the steak and chicken, all of which was grilled on a huge charcoal grill right there. Guests just walked up and picked the steak and chicken they wanted. Call and set up a time to go see it. You won't be disappointed. It was actually the most affordable place we looked at and we liked it best.

I'm getting married at Castle McCulloch in May and am very pleased with what they offer.

We are getting married in the great hall. Their website can give you more then enough info and if you call they are very nice and helpful with any questions you may have.

It does not have water or streams, but just an idea to through out there to ya. My wife and i were married on the roof at holiday inn downtown charlotte. it was perfect!! we had a lot of out of town guests so they had everything they needed all in one place. reception/dj was until 11, after went out downtown for more drinks, then walked back to hotel.

congrats on getting married!!

Depending on umber of guests, you might be able to rent one of the charter boats and have your wedding on lake Norman - maybe not the Catawba Queen or Lady of the Lake, but one of the houseboats. I believe they can even pull up to one of the many islands and you could have a ceremony on the island with the guests watching from the top of the boat or something...

The castle looks cool as well...

My Brother got married there and it was AWESOME! I'd certainly recommend that one, especially if it's on your list.

The owner there was a good guy too. There had been a corporate party there the day before our wedding and there were two kegs leftover that had not been touched. he let us have them for free!

went to a wedding once here http://thecokerranch.com/
Been there too. It was sketchy. Liquor came up missing from the grooms stash. The bartenders told the groom about it and it turned out the owner took it because he was concerned the groom was over-doing it. On the plus there is plenty of places to sneak off with bridesmaids:huggy:
