well, i got a ticket, first in 4 years of driving. i was on the bike right up behind two 18 wheelers, followed them through a light, looked up when i could see the light and it was red. got pulled, cop said first truck went through when light was yellow, second ran the red and i went through when it was green for oncoming traffic :shaking:. anyway, i dont have anything else on my record and i am moving out of the country for at least a year in january of '09. what do i need to do in court next friday to get this dropped? i dont want to argue about if i deserve the ticket or not, i know i was following too close and whats done is done. thanks,

You were in the wrong running the red light, pay the fine take the point. After that forgetaboutit. We all have made mistakes.

Plead prayer for judgment and sell me your rig cheap when ya move. Just kidding call a lawyer and ask what to do.....

Call Eggers, Eggers, Eggers and Eggers. They are in downtown boone.

They'll honestly let you know exactly what to do for no charge. Im not totally sure how Watuaga works, in terms of a Defensive Driving course availability, but when I got my ticket up there for running a flashing red I used a PJC (Prayer for Judgement Continuance i believe). I used Casey and Casey for mine. They are right down past Rams Rack. Id check and see if you can use the Defensive Driving course. I did that for my first speeding ticket, and it gets dropped to improper equipment.

its 3 points on my license cheif, i cant afford that hike in insurance. ill call eggers today

You should have left more distance between yas, but that's one of those BS tickets. I've caught myself doing the same thing before. Follow the above advise on an attorney.

I hear ya ingine

Dude you need to be safer than that on a bike or your going to end up a concrete stain. Alil time isn't worth your life

PFJ FTMFW

If you're moving out of the country, go for the PJC. Just don't get any more in three years. If you were staying I'd say go to court and talk tothe DA and he/she will just reduce it to a no insurance point one driving record point and your insurance will not go up, then one your second one use the PJC. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DRIVING POINTS AND INSURANCE POINTS!!!! They won't tell you that but there is.

Do Traffic School. A little more expensive than the fine, but no points and no insurance hike.

Good luck getting a PJC in wake county...

I haven't had any problem getting one in Wake county. Had the Judge give me one without me even asking for it. I believe he said "I'll continue judgement". Basically they could care less that you ran the light or were speeding. (I actually had the DA tell me that.) They just want your $120 or so for court costs.

I was up in Boone a few weeks ago picking the daughters crap up from ASU. Got hit by a trooper for 53 in a 35. He was cool about it, asked about my driving record and saw it was clean. He wrote me for no seat belt....$100 and no reporting. Funny part is I always wear my seat belt..... hell I sleep with mine on....:shaking:

Metto, where are you headed out of the country? I back packed, canoed, and kayaked New Zealand for three months last fall and wish every day i was back doing it again. I might try to move down there, when i get my degree, for a little while.
