I need a new D30 front axle for my 95 ZJ...
I have a spare D30 from a '89 XJ... would it fit right in?, and i know the gears have to be the same or swapped

i can work, but will not be a direct swap. I think the 89xj had slightly different knuckles and unit bearings, and it is a high pinion axle, so the driveshaft lenght probably won't be right, and if your not lifted, it may not have enough clearance.

I have the old axle from my 93zj, w/3.55 gears I'd let go really cheap if you need one.

Some 30s are HP and some are LP

Here is a LP, The HP is the same but upside down so the shaft goes in on the top side

does the 89XJ axle have the CAD (center axle disconnect)? That could throw a little complication in the works.
If the 89XJ axle is complete all the way out, I don't think there's any point in swapping knuckles. Unless the hubs, balljoints, etc are in bad shape, then swap away, its not that difficult.

okay yeah its a LP... i looked at the ZJ on the lift, the studs are bent, and i have a spare axle shaft for the front... with studs and everything. I might just swap those too. but the LCA bracket is done, it's mangled. Is it safe/ possible to plasma cut the LCA bracket off the '89's axle and weld it to my ZJ axle?

It would be better and maybe easier to get some plate and make new bef LCA brackets

Yea beef....thats a good idea
