OK, I have 3 choices on what I can swap vehicles for:
choice #1
1989 Suburban 4x4 - Has 350 and a 4 something rear end...12,000 on a rebuilt transmission...cracked windshield, ower is going to replace 2 side windows that are cracked and have the a/c charged to see if it will hold charge and work.
choice #2
This 1979 Suburban

I am awaiting questions being answered on this one...I am pretty certain it is 2wd
Choice #3
1990 Bronco
30,000 on rebuilt engine...needs A/C compressor...then A/C might work...will need a new motor for the back glass soon.
Has rust spot that has been fixed on the reat tailgate.
I know nothing about Chevrolets...and I have a little experience with Fords having my F150http://charlotte.craigslist.org/car/627037618.html
Now:
1) I know I can tow with all 3...
2) I know I can go anywhere in 2 of them...
3) I think I'll get crappy gas mileage in all 3...but since it is a lake trip vehicle...no big deal...not a daily driver
4) What would be better...taking the top off of a bronco or being able to haul everyone...I think I should be more concerned with hauling my wife and kids than my wife, kids, and my parents.
5) No more snow than we get, I am half considering selling my 1999 CR-V EX w/leather and getting a big family car that is good on gas...then if it ever would snow...I would have a 4x4 to haul my boys.
I really do value everyone's honest opinion...and as long as I have had my truck ad on here, most everyone knows what I am searching for. No one will swap me their XJ for my truck...so....this is where I am.
Please give me your feedback. I'm addicted to Craigslist and I am sending countless emails to people to try to swap. I don't go to bed till 1AM or worse...and I get up at 5AM.
I think the Bronco is my best bet, and if I don't get the A/C running, I still can go topless...and rolling down the back window an the front windows will circulate a BUNCH of air...
BUT I WANT EVERYONE'S OPINION...maybe I'm not seeing something...

I would stick with the '89 Burb or the Bronco. I have/had both.
The short wheelbase of the Bronco can be a pain with a heavy boat. Taking the top off the Bronco is nice, but it doesn't have nearly the room of the Burb.
Does the Burb have the taigate and roll down window, or barn doors?

Bronco

Aftermarket is great for them. Alot of folks on here have parts for them so you can get it fixed cheap

Open tops are great

The bronco is going to be built just like your F-150l, so you will already know it inside and out...

Be sure to send us new pics of your bronc! :)

I'll have to ask about the back doors

:poop:

Now I have a 4th choice...90Jeepman wants me to call him. He has the 98XJ with 31s...and black...
I think the XJs are just awesome. (MPG and Tow capacity)

I believe with his I need to purchase a trailer hitch, and the passenger side window regulator needs replacing...
I think he said that the A/C works and everything else is good...

I really want the XJ or Bronco...Suburban...I really don't want a land boat...

ok...what about the XJ?
Honestly, I am leaning towards the Bronco and XJ...
I'm hearing too many horror stories about the Chevy transmissions...

I'd go with the one of the burbs. The 79 has the turbo 400 trans. which is a stought trans. And you can find chevy parts very easily and cheap if you need them.

Jeep and Bronco parts on here are pretty cheap too...
Bear in mind too that All I will be pulling is a boat or an occasional trailer to haul mulch or a lawn mower or ATV...not a trail rig...

I think you need my 96 Grand Cherokee Limited. V8 and Full time 4x4. It has no problems towing. I wont trade seeing as I have another vehicle but this one needs nothing (everything works) and is for sale cheap! $3500.

If not interested. I would go with the XJ. How many miles are on it? im on my 4th Jeep now, and even though they have their problems they are easy to fix. The Bronco isnt bad as well but it sounds like it will need some work. Good luck, ill follow up on your choice.

The beauty of this is an even swap...otherwise, your Grand Cherokee sounds good...do you want to swap?

Just kidding. I am a huge fan of the XJ styling...I still say Jeep screwed up BIG when the Liberty replaced the classic Cherokee...
Amazing how the new grand cherokees are kinda boxy...
