plugging waste gate on 01 cummins

Look the guy ask if he could block the wastegate I replied yes . Every deuce and half is non wastegated and some power strokes. If he blocked his gate off it might make more boost it might not depends on how much fuel he is putting to it a turbo does have a sweet spot to run in depends on what a/r housing u run and I have had a lot of experience on turbos

All I'm saying is that misinformation cost money. Your right, it may be fine but it will make minimal additional power. I didn't build my shop and reputation screwing up trucks and costing my customers money. The hx and hy series chargers will overspool on a 24v truck. If he wants or needs more boost, he needs to think of other charger routes.
Tell me, what are the benefits of raising hy boost above 38psi. I've had multiple hx and hy chargers on the rollers on multiple dynos and raising boost does nothing for them?

I didn't make this post to create conflict just some helpful an $$$$ rating tips on the waste gate. My truck has a after market intercooler, chip, intake, exhaust so I'm not sure if blocking off the waste gate would help make more power or if anything at all just don't want to tear my truck up listening to people's advice. I'm no where close to a diesel truck guy so thanks guys for all the input an advice.

conflict makes boring things more interesting. Its a forum and theres no such thing as serious conversation.
Building these trucks is my day job and hobby and has been for quite a few years now. I'm not saying my opinion is right, but it's just that my opinion.
I've made plenty of power with these trucks and never blocked the wastegate on any. (except for one lb7 and the gate tab blew out the tail pipe)
My point is that your turbo is designed to be wastegated from the factory, and will begin to gate at around 19PSI or below. The most accepted method for increasing boost would be to slow the flow of pressure entering the actuator which increases boost but wont prevent the wastegate from functioning.
If you completely block your wastegate you risk overspeeding your charger if enough fuel is there to do so, and mind you that any figure above 38-40PSI is not increasing power, only heat.
There's some maps that are close to your charger

There's Also some good reading on the garrett site here : http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarrett/tech_center/turbo_tech101.html

Again, There is nothing wrong with not running a gated charger but your charger is designed to be gated.

Just my opinion lol
