Anyone on here that can recommend or is a plumber in south east guilford county? My girlfriend has well water and pressure sucks. I checked the air psi in the storage tank and it was only at 6 psi. I had a portable air tank so I turned pump off and drained the lines and got it aired up to 22 psi. Tank was pre charged to 30 psi originally but all I could get in the tank was 22. Now water psi stays steady for about 5 minutes then it shuts off completely. After its off for a minute it builds back up and works fine.

Soo I suck at plumbing and don't really careto learn, who can I trust to diagnose and fix this without killing my wallet. Thanks guys!

Sounds more like the pressure switch has sediment build up in it or the 1/4'' pipe leading to it not allowing the pressure to flow away from the switch quick enough not allowing the switch/pump to kick on quick enough before all pressure is gone hence no water. IIRC the tank pressure should be just a couple pounds less than what the pressure switch is set to kick on. Set the pressure/bladder tank pressure w/ it empty.
If there is no water coming out of the valve when you push the needle valve down then your bladder in the tank is fine and may just need to adjust the air pressure.

Just figure out what switch you have be it a 30/50 or whatever and set the tank pressure to 28 if it's a 20/40 set it to 18 lbs.

A 10 second google search gave me a site that says basically what I tried to say http://www.mahoningvalleywater.com/pressure tank adj.htm

This stuff is so simple I hate to see anyone pay a plumber a couple hundred bucks plus parts for something so simple. if you don't have water coming out of your valve on the tank replacing the pressure gauge, switch, 1/4'' pipe, and setting your tank pressure would only take a few minutes and less than $40. Just be sure the power is off before messing w/ the switch.

If you just feel like spending money pick up the yellow pages there is all kinds of plumbers willing to take your money. :D

That is exactly what her dad told me.....I am going to try to get the correct air psi in the tank in the morning and pull the switch to check for buildup.
Hopefully that will work....thanks!

Jason if that doesn't work call a well driller, they usually install the pump, tank and so on.

Problem is in the cross coming out of the tank. I pulled the psi switch this morning to check for blockage and It's stopped up completely going back in the tee. I tried to free it up with a clothes hanger no luck. It's all cast iron pipe and with no decent tools there to work with I'm afraid It's gonna break. Time to call an expert.

Call Mark Friddle Plumbing, he did a lot of work for me in Greensboro

Only place i can recommend is Pendergrass and Holder, I work for them. But if this is something that can be done yourself you will save money!

I think I will move the psi switch past the galvanized crap and install it in the copper pipe going to the filter. Pretty sure I can use gator grips and accomplish this pretty easily. Thanks for all the suggestions guys.
